"BY FAILING TO PLAN, YOU ARE PREPARING TO FAIL"...AMULO BEATRICE PRESENTS MEDIA-VISION ACADEMY' 5 YEAR PLAN

MEDIAVISION ACADEMY Strategic Plan 2023-2027, A step towards a sustainable future

I was honored to lead a staff meeting which focused on streamlining key aspects of how the Academy will look like in the next five years to come. As a communication officer, and team leader, one my main roles is providing a strategic plan for the organisation so as to streamline the image of the company in all angles.

The process of building a strategic plan for an organisation is always not a simple task. I worked hand in hand with Daniel Meboya the Communication consultant and I was able to present the first of all kind, MVA Strategic Plan.

Makindye Division, Kampala – 17 October 2022 - “I therefore believe that the corner we have turned with the zero draft of the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan is a first, important step towards a sustainable future of MEDIAVISION ACADEMY® (MVA),” said Robert Nkambo, director of the institution, after three and half hours of presentation and debate.  Ms. Aloyo Annet, director of studies, attended the presentation and provided invaluable contribution to the document.

Formed in 2014 with the sole objective of providing specialized training in film, radio, and television, MVA continues to offer a valuable, nationally recognized platform and institution to train youths in order to become the leaders of tomorrow.  “We thought about the whole of the Academy experience since its inception, strengthened by all aspects of our curriculum and approach, and also by the individuality that is expressed and celebrated in each of our students,” explained the Academy Director.  He also acknowledged the hard work accomplished by the Corporate Communication Strategist, Daniel Massamba Meboya.

With the support of the MVA Communication Team led by Ms. Beatrice Amulo, the consultant spared no time or effort to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the situation at the Academy, and the obstacles hampering its sustainable development.
“The strategy will be pervasive throughout the next five years.  It sets goal metrics and outlines its action plans for how these will be accomplished,” revealed Mr. Meboya.

‘Where Dreams Come True’ is the motto of the Academy, which is also the theme picked for the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.  What’s the secret behind the motto?  Robert Nkambo has simply been inspired by eloquent testimonials from the Academy’s students and alumni praising not only the quality of the Academy’s curriculum, but the excellence of the teaching staff, which is a major factor conducive to make their dreams come true.

Wasswa Marvin Deo, a respected photographer and content creator in Uganda, once said: “There is no question about it – when I started getting down to business by founding Memory Hub Studios after completing my training at the Academy, I then realized how useful the training course was.  The business has grown from a photography business service to a video and film production house with the continuous mentorship by the Academy Team”.

Mr. Meboya can’t help, but marvel at handing the Academy its first-ever Strategic Plan built on five pillars, including Curriculum and Enrollment, Partnerships and Fundraising, Mentorship and Financial Support for start-up, Production of Multimedia Content, and Foster Lifelong Connections and Success.

“While no plan is infallible, staff members should take ownership of the document, thereby foster its implementation,” said Mr. Meboya at the end of the presentation.   As the universal adage goes "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”  Therefore, the Academy leadership has to be responsible for overseeing the execution of the plan and needs also to be nimble enough to navigate rapid change within the institution.”
